In other words: the number on the price tag explained.
When I was little, I was taught from a very early age the value of honesty and truth. My parents never punished me for telling the truth even when I did really bad things like that time when I was 7 and ate the sandwich with Nutella that belonged to my classmate (hey! Before you judge me, I was raised in communist Poland where vinegar and vodka were the only things available in the shops and my classmate had a father who worked in Germany).
Of course, as every kid, I tried to lie a few times, but every time it ended very badly for me. My parents were able to detect the lie from a mile away, so after a few unsuccessful trials, I abandoned this doubtful art and chose radical honesty and truth that I apply till this day to every aspect of my life and expect the same from others.
RADICAL HONESTY IS THE ONLY WAY
When I started my entrepreneurial journey, it was obvious for me that the radical transparency and honesty will be also the cornerstones of my business.
This still may be unpopular opinion in the fashion world, but I believe it’s your birthright to know:
+ the origin of the garment and its every component
+ the true impact of the garment on your health and our planet
+ the true cost of making a high-quality garment
For that very reason I created “We care” page (you can find it under Behind the label). There you can find the information regarding the origin of my fabric, manufacturers and partners I collaborate with, and what I do together with my business partners to make our businesses as much people-animals-and-planet friendly as possible.
Today I want to address the last element: the true cost of making FEEL GOOD COUTURE™ garment.
To understand where the number on a price tag comes from requires tallying every step of production – fabric, labor, shipping, packaging – and adding the profit margin.
But before we dive into the details, let me ask you a question:
HOW MUCH IS YOUR HEALTH WORTH TO YOU?
I want you to pause for the moment and answer by yourself this question in the most honest way you can do.
For me, a woman who has been living with severe atopic dermatitis for 40 years, had two life-saving open-heart surgeries as a child, 7 episodes of alopecia, and spent the first 9 years of her life in the hospitals fighting for every breath due to severe asthma, my health is priceless to me.
Luckily my heart and asthma issues have been sorted out, but the skin problems make my life difficult.
To help manage my eczema and sooth my skin, despite paralyzing fear of failure, I took a leap of faith and decided to create FEEL GOOD COUTURE™.
I created my own brand of clothing out of necessity not for glamour or fame. Over the years I learnt the hard way how seemingly innocent clothing can endanger my health and exacerbate my eczema. I learnt that the clothing labels say only partial truth and that nobody will care of for my wellbeing if I don’t do it myself.
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAIL
Living with skin disorder is challenging. Simple things like getting dressed when your skin itches, hurts, cracks, peels, oozes, and bleeds become quite a challenge.
That’s why your compromised skin deserves the best. Your skin works tirelessly to protect you against infections and injury, regulate your body temperature, defend you against viruses, and repair itself over and over again.
It deserves to be hugged every day by healthy, smooth, divinely soft, inspired-by-nature fabrics. It deserves the best. You deserve the best.
So, let’s have a look at the true production cost of FEEL GOOD COUTURE™ garment:
While you look at the infographics above remember that the FEEL GOOD COUTURE™ garments are designed by and for people with compromised skin. They are designed to increase your comfort, sooth your skin, and stand the test of time. They are made of safe, super-smooth, fine natural bespoke fabrics, dyed exclusively with natural, non-toxic, and allergy-free dyes, and constructed in such a way that lessens the risk of further damage of skin and offers the highest comfort.
Every new piece of clothing is designed personally by me based on the needs and feedback from people who know first-hand the ups and downs of living with chronic skin conditions.
I try on every prototype to be sure I offer you only the best of the best. I collaborate exclusively with the manufacturers and fabric suppliers who offer the highest quality products.
WHY DO I CARE?
Because when it comes to our safety, wellbeing, and happiness, I am obsessive.
Yes, natural skin-animals-and-planet-friendly high-end fabrics are more expensive, yet they last longer and are the healthiest option for uber-sensitive and compromised skin.
Yes, non-toxic and natural dyes are more expensive, yet they are safer for our skin and our planet.
Yes, clothes manufactured locally (rather than mass produced overseas) are also more expensive, yet they are better finished, more durable, and of higher quality. Plus everyone is paid a fair living wage and the local production helps reduce the carbon footprint.
Quality is not an act. It’s a habit that I learnt since I was little. My family was not rich. My mom had to stretch every penny as much as possible to get everything we needed. That’s why she was always buying the best product available, so it can serve us longer.
You pay attention what you put inside your body, right? Wouldn’t it be smart to also pay more attention to what you put ON your body? The clothing you wear can make or break your health, especially when your skin is impaired.
So, next time when you look for new clothes, instead of the price, consider:
- the cost per wear
- the cost of sustainable finest materials
- the cost of paying a living wage
- the cost of ethical production
- the TRUE cost: your health and the health of our Planet.
Your health, comfort, and happiness are paramount for me, and I believe for you too. I want people with compromised skin to have a chance to live uncompromised life.
That's why I created FEEL GOOD COUTURE™.
When you live with chronic skin conditions, healthy clothes are not the cost. They are a smart investment in your health and wellbeing. An Investment that will pay off.
In moments of doubt, remember:
« Health is a priceless wealth. Invest while you can. »
